Το συμπαγές καρέ απ την Αμερική, έρχεται να μας μακρύνει τα μούσια μας καμιά ίντσα περίπου .Από την μια έχουμε Low- Tempo doom μελωδίες που θυμίζουν κάτι από τις θεϊκές εισαγωγές του Scent of Death των Solitude Aeternus. Απ την άλλη, Black Metal ξεσπάσματα (yelling, not screaming) ανεβάζουν της στροφές. Στο φινάλε ,τα Sludge σημεία βρίσκονται στο μεταίχμιο των δυο αυτών τάσεων . Είναι απ τα groups που πραγματικά πιστεύω ότι αυτό το  κάνουν όχι για την φήμη αλλά, επειδή είναι παρέα και περνάνε καλά. Και η αλήθεια είναι, ότι οι  παρέες γράφουν την ιστορία. Μην σας περάσει απ’ το  νου ότι είναι μια ρηχή και χαζοχαρούμενη μπάντα. Αντίθετα, ο στίχος του είναι άπειρα σπιριτουαλιστικός (δες το : The Growing Overwhelm ) και θυμίζει sci-fi ταινίες .Ωραία αυτά τα υβριδικά τελικά.    

This solid quartet from US, is making our beards longer by about an inch. On the one hand, we low-tempo, doom melodies which remind me of the divine intros of Scent of Death by Solitude Aeturnus and on the other hand we have black metal bursts (yelling, not screaming), which accelerate the pace. This is one of these groups, which i really believe that they aint't in it for the glory but just as a group o f friends that have fun. And the truth is that suck groups make history. Do not foul yourselves, this is no superficial band. On the contrary their lyrics are kind of spiritual (like The Growing Overwhelm) and it reminds me of sci-fi movies. Hybrid acts are good after all.

Οι Asilo, είναι ένα φρέσκο μίγμα sludge, doom και crust punk. Τα περισσότερα κομμάτια τους είνα αργά, heavy και πυκνά πράγμα που οφείλεται κθρίως στα δύο μπάσα και στην απουσία κιθάρας. Οι στίχοι είναι είτε στα Ισπανικά είτε στα Αγγλικά και παρουσιάζουν το θυμό και την απόγνωση από θα περίμενε κανείς από μια μπάντα που αυτοαποκαλείται " heavy τριτοκοσμική μουσική".

Asilo is a fresh mix of sludge, doom and crust punk. Most of its music is slow, heavy and dense, in a great deal because of the use of two basses and no guitar. The lyrics are either in Spanish or in English, and present all the anger and despair you could expect from a band that call themselves “heavy third world music”.

Αν και διατηρούμε ακέραια την θέση μας απέναντι στο Black Metal, θεωρώ πως έχουμε ακόμα το δικαίωμα της ευελιξίας. Αυτή την φορά θα μιλήσουμε για ένα πολυδιάστατο δίσκο. Τα πράγματα εδώ είναι απλά. Οι Cough έχουν στόφα μεγάλης μπάντας .Τον δίσκο αυτόν ,άνετα τον ζήλευαν οι  Electric Wizard , Limbic Riot και οι Grief. Η φαρέτρα τους είναι γεμάτη  από βέλη : παρανοϊκό μπασίστα με πτυχίο στην Cathedral-λογία,  δυο κιθαριστές που χαρίζουν απλόχερα δισολίες- grooves και έναν τραγουδιστή ενθουσιώδη  με Doom στοχοπροσήλωση. Την χαριστική βολή την δίνουν οι μισανθρωπικοί στίχοι με την αμαρτία ως κεντρομόλο δύναμη. Ο Βήχας και ο παράς δεν κρύβεται. Αλλά σε παρακαλώ μην μου μιλάς για παράδες και με πιάσουν οι κρυάδες…

Although we've got our minds fixed on Black metal, we ocassionally like to enjoy other dark drugs as well. This album manages to be multi-layered and simple at the same time. Cough is a great band. This album could easily make bands lime Electric Wizard, Limbic Riot and Grief jealous. These guys have some quite lethal arrows in their quiver: a paranoid bass player with a master's degree in Cathedral-like bass lines, a guitarist-duo which offers some kick-ass duo-solos and grooves and a frontman who was born to spread the Doom. The misanthropic lyrics, powered by the concept of sin, give the final touch. Excellent band, great album!

Οι Hesperian Death Horse σχηματίστηκαν το 2011 και αυτός είναι ο πρώτος τους δίσκος. D.I.Y. παραγωγή σε υψηλή ποιότητα και εξαιρετικές συνθέσεις. Η μπάντα παίζει σε καταλήψεις της πόλης και γενικά είναι πολιτικοποιημένη, ακόμα και αν δε φαίνεται στη μουσική της. Το όνομα του δίσκου σημαίνει θάνατος στα κροατικά  και ο ίδιος ο δίσκος είναι το πρώτο κομμάτι μιας τριλογίας σύμφωνα με την ίδια τη μπάντα.

Hesperian Death Horse were formed in 2011 and this is their first album. D.I.Y., but high quality production and superb compositions. The band performs in squats and they are generally into anarchist politics even if you can;t see this in their music. Tne title of the albm means "death" in croatian and the album itself is according to the band the first of a trilogy concept.

Οι Lockersludge είναι μια τριμελής μπάντα που σχηματίστηκε 2007 ως φόρος τιμής στον sludge ήχο του έπους Nola, των Crowbar και των Eyehategod. Μετά το πρώτο τους album "In Living Fear" που κυκλοφόρησε το 2008 η μπάντα ενσωμάτωσε στη μουσική της μια ποικιλία ήχων, από punk και hardcore, μέχρι thrash και doom metal. Αυτά τα στοιχεία αποτυπώνονται στη δεύτερη τους κυκλοφορία, το "Falling on our Faces: που κυκλοφόρησε το 2011. Το σχήμα έχει ξεκινήσει τις live εμφανίσεις και αναμένεται να μπει στο studio στις αρχές Απρίλη για την ηχογράφηση του νέου του δίσκου, ο οποίος θα κυκλοφορήσει το καλοκαίρι. Η μπάντα έχει την κλασσική sludge βρωμιά που προσελκύει τους λάτρεις του είδους, δοσμένη όμως με την επιθετικότητα του παλιού καλού hardcore και την τεχνική αρτιότητα του metal. Επίσης η μπάντα είναι καθαρόαιμο D.I.Y. Προτείνεται ανεπιφύλακτα.. Μπορείτε να ακούσετε τα παιδιά μέσα από το stream στο myspace τους.

Lockersludge are a three-piece act formed in 2007 as a salute to the sludge metal sound like the epic Nola, Crowbar and Eyehategod. After their first release "In Living Fear" in 2008 the band incoreporated a large variety of elements, from punk and hardcore to thrash and doom metal. These elements are present in the band's second release "Fallin on ouur Faces", which was out in 2011. Lockersludge have begun playing live gigs in their homeland and they are going to record their third album this April. The album is expected to be released in summer. The band combines the classical sludge "filth" we all love, with the oldschool hardcore agressiveness and the technical superiority of metal. Moreover the band is pure D.I.Y. Highly recommented. Και τώρα κάτι φρέσκο από τις παγωμένες πεδιάδες της Ουκρανίας. Οι Nonsun είναι ένα metal δίδυμο που σχηματίστηκε το 2011 από τους Goatooth (κιθάρες, μπάσο, φωνητικά) και Alpha (ντραμς). Τα παιδιά κυκλοφόρησαν το πρώτο τους demo τον προηγούμενο Δεκέμβρη. Όμορφα εκτελεσμένο μείγμα από slow riffs και post-metal μελωδίες. Επίσης πολύ καλή παραγωγή για πρώτη κυκλοφορία. Συνολικά ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον ντεμπούτο από την underground σκηνή της Ουκρανίας. Ελπίζω να δούμε περισσότερα από αυτό το σχήμα στο μέλλον.

And now some fresh blood from the cold plains of Ukraine. Nonsun is a metal-duo formed in 2011 by Goatooth (guitars, bass, vocals) and Alpha (drums). The band released their first demo "Good Old Evil"  in the past December. Well-executed mix of slow riffs and post metal melodies. The production very good for a first release. Overall a very interesting debute from the Ukraine underground scene. Hope to see more from these guys.
