Twilight Fauna are back with their fifth album. Complete with densely layered guitars, minimalist drums, haunting vocals, acoustic folk, and gorgeous tin whistle, this full-length will have you immersing yourself in a cold Appalachian pond fed by a roaring waterfall. Paul always manages to wrap you completely with atmosphere. This album is no exception. As with most of Twilight Fauna's releases, this one teeters on the border between black metal and a kind of heavily distorted dark ambient. But the sound is not all bleak. The addition of folk guitars and tin whistle offer a lighter and more delicate side to this thick atmospheric mountain fog. If you're searching for some really unique black metal, that has no need for blast beats, check out Shadows of Ancestors.
