Ο τελευταίος δίσκος της ταλαντούχας τετράδας από την Καλιφόρνια και κατά τη γνώμη μου ο καλύτερός τους, αλλά και μια από τις καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες του περασμένου χρόνου. Ακόμα πιο έντονος post πειραματικός ήχος, epic ατμόσφαιρα, noise στοιχεία και τον Harry Cantwell (drums) να παίζει παπάδες σε όλο το δίσκο. Στιχουργικά πρόκειται για ένα ακόμα περήφανο δείγμα της μητροπολιτικής σουρεάλ θλίψης στο οποίο μας σύστησαν μπάντες όπως οι Latlos και οι Deafheaven και σε αυτό συμβάλλει και το ψαρωτικό (ακόμα και για αμερικάνικο bm) εξώφυλλο που αποτελεί ένα κολάζ από τους στίχους του δίσκου.  Η παραγωγή έχει γίνει από τον Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Downfall of Gaia, Fathomless κλπ.) Χαρακτηριστικό του δίσκου είναι ότι τα κομμάτια ρέουν πωρωτικά χωρίς σκαμπανευάσματα, με το καλύτερο κατ' εμέ "Washerwoman" να βρίσκεται στη μέση του album χωρίς να αποτελεί όμως κορύφωση. Το ευφυέστατο στιχουργικά και μουσικά "The Most Modern Staircase" είναι το καλύτερο τέλος για ένα τέτοιο δίσκο. Για τους οπαδούς σχημάτων όπως οι Ash Borer, Deafheaven και Krallice.

The latest album of the talented 4-piece act from California and in my opinion their best one so far and also one of the best releases of the last year. Even more intense post experimental sound, epic atmosphere, noise elements and Harry Cantwell (drums) kicking ass throughout the album. Lyrically speaking it's another fine example of urbal surrealistic grief to which we got introduced by bands like Lantlos and Deafheaven and with the the funny looking (even for an usbm album) cover, which is essentially a collage of the album's lyrics, contributing to this. The album was produced by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Downfall of Gaia, Fathomless etc.) The outstanding characteristic of this album is that all its songs rage on without ups and downs with the best (imo) song of the album "Washerwoman" proudly standing in the middle of it, without being its climax though. The lyrically and musically brilliant "The Most Modern Staircase" is the best ending for such an album. For the fans of bands like Ash Borer, Deafheaven and Krallice.

Θα δεις Arctur-ήδες και Limbonic Art-άκηδες να μελετούν Black Metal συναστρίες. Περίεργο είδος, για περίεργα γούστα: Speed-electro ρυθμοί που φορούν σκιά κάτω από τα ματιά και να βάζουν μαύρες πούδρες. ΠΡΟΣΕΞΕ! Δεν είναι φλώροι αλλά, υπάρχει και ένα είδος που λέγεται Space Black Metal στη μέση και σ’ αυτό διαπρέπουν. Ο  νοών, νοείτω.

Εδώ έχουμε να κάνουμε για μια μπαντάρα από Cascadian-Fuckin’- Culture μεριά. Οι Atriarch χέζουν όλες τις ψευδεπιγραφές που αφορούν Black Metal νόρμες. Παίζουν «ασήκωτο» μαύρο Doom και φτύνουν στα μούτρα κάθε είδους επαρχιώτικο μέταλ. Άκουσε το έχοντας κάνει «κεφάλι» καθώς οι τύποι trip-άρουν .Θυμίζουν πάρα πολύ τους Cough τους Sardonis και κάτι ψιλά από τους Om. Γράφουν ποίηση και ξερνούν φωτιά σε κάθε στίχο (it feeds on our ignorant fearthe parasite plantedits seed inside us alland how do we fight this disease?will love and respect conquer fear?or will a change call for a fight?this is war...).Τα λόγια περιττεύουν σε κάτι τέτοιες περιπτώσεις .Αναμένουμε καινούριο δίσκο.

Atriarch don’t follow the usual norms that go with Black Metal. They play rough

black Doom and cut to pieces every kind of provincial Metal. You have to listen to it

while you are high, as these guys really triping on . They 

remind a lot of the Cough, Sardonis and a little bit of the Om. They write poetry and 

throw fire through each lyric (it feeds on our ignorant fear the parasite plant edits seed 

inside us all and how do we fight this disease? will love and respect conquer fear? or 

will a change call for a fight? this is war... ). Words are really poor in such cases. We 

wait for the next album.

One-man σχήμα που δημιουργήθηκε το 2010 και παίζει μεγάλες, καλοπαιγμένες και πανέμορφες συνθέσεις. Συνολικά πέντε κυκλοφορίες, οι περισσότερες από τις οποίες έχουν γίνει ανεξάρτητα και με ιδία μέσα. Προτείνεται ιδιαίτερα στους fan του Blackgaze και του Experimental black metal.

One-man band playing long, well-executed, beautiful compositions. Five releases overall, most of them self-released. Highly recommended for Blackgaze and Experimental black metal fans.

Botanist ονομάζεται το solo project του ομώνυμου Αμερικανού μουσικού και μάλλον δεν έχετε ξανακούσει κάτι παρόμοιο. Χαρακτηριστικό της μουσικής του Botanist είναι η περίεργη ενορχήστρωση των κομματιών, καθώς χρησιμοποιεί μόνο τύμπανα, φωνητικά και σαντούρι (ω ναι, σαντούρι). Όπως φαίνεται και από το όνομα του project, το concept έχει να κάνει με τη χλωρίδα. Σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο τον Botanist, απομονωμένος στο δάσος υμνεί τη φύση περιμένοντας την καταστροφή της ανθρωπότητας και την εξάπλωση των φυτών σε όλη τη γη. Μουσικά πάντως οι συνθέσεις δημιουργούν μια πολύ όμορφη και περίεργη ατμόσφαιρα και σχεδόν ξεχνάς ότι δεν υπάρχουν κιθάρες. Προτείνεται ανεπιφύλακτα στους ανοιχτόμυαλους και φυσιολάτρες metalheads. Botanist is an one-man metal project and probably the weirdest shit you can listen these days, as far as bm is concerned. The instrumentation utilizes only precussion, vocals and a hammered dulcimer (yeah a fucking dulcimer). As the name shows, the concept is about plants. As the Botanist himself claims, he waits isolated from the rest of the world, the destruction of the human race and the reign of nature on the planet. As far as the music is concerned, his compositions create a beautiful and weird atmosphere, which makes you almost forget that there are no guitars. Higly recommented to open-minded and nature loving metalheads. This is pure, raw art...
