Ο τελευταίος δίσκος της ταλαντούχας τετράδας από την Καλιφόρνια και κατά τη γνώμη μου ο καλύτερός τους, αλλά και μια από τις καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες του περασμένου χρόνου. Ακόμα πιο έντονος post πειραματικός ήχος, epic ατμόσφαιρα, noise στοιχεία και τον Harry Cantwell (drums) να παίζει παπάδες σε όλο το δίσκο. Στιχουργικά πρόκειται για ένα ακόμα περήφανο δείγμα της μητροπολιτικής σουρεάλ θλίψης στο οποίο μας σύστησαν μπάντες όπως οι Latlos και οι Deafheaven και σε αυτό συμβάλλει και το ψαρωτικό (ακόμα και για αμερικάνικο bm) εξώφυλλο που αποτελεί ένα κολάζ από τους στίχους του δίσκου. Η παραγωγή έχει γίνει από τον Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Downfall of Gaia, Fathomless κλπ.) Χαρακτηριστικό του δίσκου είναι ότι τα κομμάτια ρέουν πωρωτικά χωρίς σκαμπανευάσματα, με το καλύτερο κατ' εμέ "Washerwoman" να βρίσκεται στη μέση του album χωρίς να αποτελεί όμως κορύφωση. Το ευφυέστατο στιχουργικά και μουσικά "The Most Modern Staircase" είναι το καλύτερο τέλος για ένα τέτοιο δίσκο. Για τους οπαδούς σχημάτων όπως οι Ash Borer, Deafheaven και Krallice.
The latest album of the talented 4-piece act from California and in my opinion their best one so far and also one of the best releases of the last year. Even more intense post experimental sound, epic atmosphere, noise elements and Harry Cantwell (drums) kicking ass throughout the album. Lyrically speaking it's another fine example of urbal surrealistic grief to which we got introduced by bands like Lantlos and Deafheaven and with the the funny looking (even for an usbm album) cover, which is essentially a collage of the album's lyrics, contributing to this. The album was produced by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Downfall of Gaia, Fathomless etc.) The outstanding characteristic of this album is that all its songs rage on without ups and downs with the best (imo) song of the album "Washerwoman" proudly standing in the middle of it, without being its climax though. The lyrically and musically brilliant "The Most Modern Staircase" is the best ending for such an album. For the fans of bands like Ash Borer, Deafheaven and Krallice.
